Imagining a waste-free cleaning product industry is getting closer to reality. MBDC is pleased to have recently provided two Material Health Assessments for Blueland, a company that launched today with household products that aim to eliminate the need for single-use packaging. The Material Health Certificates for Blueland’s ‘Forever Bottle’ and solution tablets were awarded at the Platinum level. The Forever Bottle is an innovative 100% BPA-free solution designed to not break down or leach toxic chemicals when it is reused and the solution tablets dissolve inside the bottle as a waste-free cleaning system.
“The Cradle to Cradle Design framework has been core to Blueland’s DNA since the company was just an idea,” said John Mascari, Blueland Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer. “We’ve taken a strong stance to align every aspect of our business with the C2C principles and are on a mission to be the definitive case study that proves once and for all that businesses and supply chains can be built to work with the environment—not against it—without compromising (and in many ways improving) customers’ experiences.”
By achieving Platinum Material Health standards for both parts of its cleaning system, Blueland communicates to customers that the entire system’s ingredients have been assessed by MBDC based on the Cradle to Cradle Certified™ Product Standard. Blueland’s Forever Bottle is not only 100% BPA free, but also assessed for Cradle to Cradle Certified’s Material Health standards, which go beyond restricted substances to encourage healthier and safer materials in packaging and cleaning solutions optimized for human and environmental health.
With plastic news coming out more each day of it infiltrating our air, water and land, there is no better time than now to provide consumers solutions such as the one Blueland offers for their homes—and an industry standard for which we can all align.
