MBDC joins Maybelline New York, a L’Oréal-owned brand, in celebrating their Green Edition makeup line; the first makeup line to be assessed by MBDC and Cradle to Cradle Certified® by the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute.
Following the announcement of this Cradle to Cradle Certified collection, Maybelline also announced the launch of their Conscious Together program, which Maybelline states, “aims to create a more responsible business model for the brand by transforming its processes, innovations, and mindset to reduce its impact on the planet.”
“We are proud to be the assessors for Maybelline’s Green Edition line, as they help lead the makeup industry towards a more sustainable future,” said MBDC Project Director Michelle Molloy. “In addition to these new product certifications, the launch of their Conscious Together program is another great example of L’Oreal’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and addressing environmental concerns.”
All products in this collection are vegan and made with naturally derived ingredients:
- Balmy Lip Blush (C2C Certified® Sliver)
- Mega Mousse Mascara (C2C Certified® Gold),
- Superdrop Tinted Oil (C2C Certified® Gold).
The certification of these products shows that the product chemistry in the beauty industry is becoming more transparent and MBDC is helping to make that change. We look forward to seeing what is to come from Maybelline and other L’Oréal brands as they continue to strive for safe and circular products for their customers and setting an example for other brands in the industry.
“All of us at Maybelline want to make progress and inspire the industry to make progress,” said Trisha Ayyagari, Global Brand President, Maybelline New York. “We looked at the key areas where Maybelline could make a positive environmental impact and set ambitious goals that will guide our actions until 2030. We recognize that there is still so much to do, and we are committed to concrete actions that will help us accelerate our sustainable transformation.”
