Chicago Paper Tube and Can Company received top honors for their sustainable packaging design at LUXE Pack New York 2015. The 13th annual LUXE Pack trade show was held last month at Pier 92 in New York City. The company is a leading manufacturer of custom, high-end, round paperboard containers exclusively manufactured in the United States.
Chicago Paper Tube and Can Company is the designer of the winning concept, EcoPush™, a 100% paperboard package, made from up to 95% recycled materials, containing no plastic or metal. EcoPush™ replaces plastic containers by allowing direct filling of oil-based solids like balms and butters for cosmetics and personal-care markets. All of the paper and glues used in its manufacture are FDA compliant. No solvents or harmful chemicals are used in the process. The only waste product is a small amount of these same materials, which are recycled in return. The entire package is biodegradable, compostable and is available in sizes from 0.3oz to 2oz. EcoPush™ is ideal for salves, solid perfume, sunscreen, deodorant and lip or body balm.
The EcoPush™ was chosen to receive the In Green award by a panel of 6 seasoned packaging experts, including presenter William McDonough and was also influenced by a popular vote from registered show attendees. In his keynote LUXE Pack presentation, McDonough discussed the importance of fusing sustainability and luxury product design. LUXE Pack New York 2015 reported increased attendance, a 9% increase from 2014.
