Method Adds New Product to Cradle to Cradle® Family: First-Ever Certified Dryer Sheets

For many years MBDC has been proud to partner with Method Products, a company that is a true leader in powerful, planet-friendly cleaning products. With 100% of their everyday line of cleaning, laundry and personal care Cradle to Cradle Certified™, the company has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to beautiful design and environmental responsibility.

To continue this momentum, MBDC recently worked with Method to assess and certify its Dryer Sheets, which mark the first time a dryer sheet has ever been Cradle to Cradle Certified. Plus, in a major accomplishment for the hand soap line, the Kitchen Gel Hand Wash has moved from SILVER to GOLD following several years of optimization engagement with MBDC.

“MBDC has been with us every step of the way as we have worked to find better ingredient alternatives,” said Ryan Williams, Global Greenskeeper-Product Experience at Method. “More than 90% of our products are Cradle to Cradle Certified, and we believe this demonstrates our commitment to the valuable, independent third-party standard of Cradle to Cradle.”

Method Dryer Sheets are made from 100% compostable paper, are housed in a fully recyclable box and made from a naturally derived, plant-based and biodegradable formula. The dryer sheets were awarded Cradle to Cradle certification at the BRONZE level and come in Ginger Mango and Beach Sage fragrances. Method has already set goals across all five categories of Cradle to Cradle Certification to raise the bar by the time they recertify in 2019. They will continue to work with MBDC as they reformulate and optimize these sheets which reduce cling and soften fabrics.

Method’s Kitchen Gel Hand Wash has been reformulated and is now at the PLATINUM level for Material Health. This is the highest level possible, and combined with improvements in all categories, the overall rating for the product moved from SILVER to GOLD. Dedicated to constantly improving their products and their processes, a major focus for the team during the two-year period leading up to recertification was finding an alternative for an X-assessed preservative – the last ingredient keeping them at a SILVER level for Material Health. Method and MBDC are very excited to announce that they have achieved this goal.

The Kitchen Gel Hand Wash is a non-drying gel hand wash infused with citrus extracts and designed to eliminate smells while making hands feel soft and clean. It comes in four fragrances: Clementine, Lemongrass, Basil, and Thyme.
