Purell/ GOJO Industries
Creating products that are “safe, effective, and good for you, as well as the environment” is core to the GOJO Purpose of Saving Lives and Making Life Better Through Well-Being Solutions. That purpose led them to achieve Cradle to Cradle Certified™ Gold for many of their hand sanitizer products and more. They were committed to MBDC Co-founder William McDonough’s safe then circular framework to emphasize the importance of ensuring the safety of the molecules they choose to manufacture their products.
Clean Air & Climate Protection
A portion of the GOJO manufacturing facility in Wooster, Ohio, is powered by solar energy
Material Health
In 2015, GOJO committed to reducing their chemical footprint by 50% by 2020, and their sustainable chemistry strategy goes far beyond required regulatory compliance. GOJO launched a refreshed Sustainable Product Innovation Policy in 2020.
Product Circularity
GOJO actively chooses biobased ingredients, including corn-derived ethanol for its hand sanitizers, and works to create formulations that are readily biodegradable
Water & Soil Stewardship
Their Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold PURELL® Brand HEALTHY SOAP® with CLEAN RELEASE® Technology rinses faster, saving an estimated 6 gallons of water per refill. To clean in its manufacturing lines, GOJO uses SafeWater™️, an electrolyzed water system that reduces energy, water, and chemical consumption compared to other industrial cleaning processes.
