LORAINE GREEN is a Project Manager for the consultation and certification services MBDC provides.  Loraine’s professional experience enables her to provide specialized assistance with regulatory and international affairs, strategic business management, marketing, and innovative waste conversion technology development.  Since joining MBDC, the firm has fielded a marked increase in corporate clients seeking guidance for developing strategic sustainability plans and undertaking Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) reporting.  Loraine has been instrumental in providing MBDC’s guidance to this end, and instructing how to imbed sustainable practices and Cradle to Cradle principles into client corporate cultures.

Loraine’s prior professional experience reflects the pursuit of a career in international trade and law. She worked in Brussels, Belgium for the European Community (EC) and was responsible for briefing the EC Environmental Directorate Commissioner regarding US environmental regulations and the implications of de-regulation policies under the Reagan Administration.  She also interpreted and translated US environmental policy and position pertaining to regulatory barriers to trade.  In 1983, she orchestrated a US Trade Mission to Mozambique for a private international trade firm in Washington, DC.  While working for the New Zealand Embassy as their first Senior Officer for Commerical and Regulatory Affairs within the NZ Trade Development Board, Loraine won a landmark US Customs decision for textiles in an era of US textile protectionism.  She has served as a private consultant regarding strategic business development, regulatory affairs, and innovative waste conversion technology development to both domestic and foreign clientele.

In the past eight years, Loraine has been personally and professionally involved in the sustainability movement, environmentally conscious construction and community development.  In 2005 she was appointed Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for the non-profit Awakening Sanctuary; and in 2006, Loraine was asked to co-chair the Corporate Relations Committee for the Charlottesville Waldorf Foundation, which is managing a fundraising campaign to build the Greenest School in America.

Loraine graduated early from Goucher College in 1982 with a B.A. in International Relations and Pre-Legal Studies.
