JAMES EWELL, Manager of Client Development,
joined McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry
in 1998 and has directly managed and contributed
to several projects for industry-leading clients
implementing Cradle to Cradle Design.
His contributions to the company also include
research and development of the Cradle to Cradle
Design Protocol.
James's professional background demonstrates
a longstanding interest in social change and
the environment. After receiving a Bachelor
of Arts degree in History from the University
of Wisconsin-Madison, he worked for the University's
Office of International Studies developing curricula
for educating high school seniors around the
country about conflict resolution. James then
moved to Washington, D.C., where he worked for
the International Center for Development Policy,
a non-governmental organization dedicated to
using negotiated settlements for the peaceful
resolution of international conflicts. James
also worked within the United States government
as a contractor for the Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA), and for the Department of Housing
and Urban Development's Office of Environment
and Energy, researching their role in the Community
Development Block Grant Program. Other experience
includes sales and marketing in the pharmaceutical
and contract furniture industries, and an apprenticeship
in organic agriculture.
In 1994, James and his family moved to Charlottesville,
Virginia so he could pursue graduate studies in
Urban and Environmental Planning in the School
of Architecture at the University of Virginia.
He began work at MBDC in 1998.
