Cradle to Cradle® Inventory & Assessment
MBDC assists manufacturers in collecting full ingredient data throughout the supply chain until the product is mapped out down to the parts per million level. Once the inventory is complete, a thorough evaluation of product’s impacts to humans and the environment is conducted in five possible categories: Material Health, Material Reutilization, Renewable Energy & Carbon, Water Stewardship, Social Fairness.
This assessment is a primary component of the directly Cradle to Cradle Certified Program for products, and the results can also be applied towards regulation compliance, life cycle assessments, or other environmental certifications (such as BIFMA level). This in-depth process (which includes gaining access to supplier’s proprietary formulations for our review) helps manufacturers identify hazards throughout the supply chain and manage priorities for reducing risk and improving eco-effectiveness.
Cradle to Cradle® Optimization
MBDC will analyze the product inventory and assessment results and partner with you to solve challenges and improve product design and manufacturing operations. By applying the Cradle to Cradle DesignSM Framework, we help companies go beyond minimizing negative impacts, optimize positive impacts, and work towards the goal of 100% good for people, planet, and profits.
For any new or existing product or packaging design, MBDC can help you rethink and redesign using the Cradle to Cradle DesignSM framework, select optimal materials, and plan for the future use cycles for the component materials.

Material Health Assessments
How To Get Authentic Material Health Assessments
MBDC conducts straightforward, complete, authentic and transparent Material Health Assessments (MHAs).
Some organizations only look surface deep at materials in products and only review the hazard profile of chemicals. This only provides a partial picture.
We use an extensive, proprietary database of chemicals with their physical and toxicological properties built up over 20 years of practice. This database provides a wealth of scientific data on human and environmental toxicology and other important attributes of materials and chemicals.
Using this database, MBDC can not only assess the hazards associated with particular material choices but also make a qualified risk assessment based on the use context for the product.
Getting an MHA with MBDC is quick and straightforward to do. It is the start point for understanding where your product design is today so that you can develop a continuous improvement plan for risk reduction, cost savings and positive selection of materials.[Contact MBDC for More Details]
• All we need is a Bill of Materials [Link to downloadable form] for your product and we provide you with a proposal for assessing the material health attributes* of your product
• If your product includes any proprietary materials or ingredients, we will sign a mutual confidentiality agreement to protect your trade secrets.
The MBDC Material Health Assessment Report also qualifies you for the optional Material Health Certificate, issued by the independent Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute.
