For over 20 years MBDC has been advocating for goods and services to be manufactured, used and reused in a “circular economy” rather than the current linear “Take-Make-Dispose” system.
Cradle to Cradle® design is based on safe cycling of goods and services in either the technosphere (technical cycle) or biosphere (biological cycle) as valuable nutrients. In addition, Cradle to Cradle® design integrates clean water, clean energy and social fairness considerations.
MBDC provides expert technical services for product and material assessments including human and environmental health considerations.
MBDC senior staff are available as keynote presenters for corporate events, national and international conferences.
MBDC provides practical workshops and presentations on the business value of Cradle to Cradle® design for the circular economy.
MBDC created the Cradle to Cradle CertifiedTM product certification program now independently managed by the not-for-profit Cradle to Cradle® Products Innovation Institute based in San Francisco, California and Amsterdam, Netherlands.

They are co-authors of Cradle to Cradle: Remaking the Way We Make Things (2002), widely recognized as one of the most consequential ecological manifestos of our time, and The Upcycle: Beyond Sustainability–Designing for Abundance (2013). MBDC originated the Cradle to Cradle® design framework that helps companies go beyond minimizing harm and move towards creating a wholly positive impact on the planet. MBDC leads companies beyond sustainability toward positive growth by integrating the Cradle to Cradle® framework into corporate strategy, communications, operations, supply chains, and product designs. Using the process of inventory, assessment, and optimization, MBDC provides the technical expertise to help companies develop solutions around material health, material reutilization, renewable energy use, water stewardship, and social fairness. We partner with clients throughout various sectors and industries to provide scientific evaluations, spur innovation, and inspire leadership.
